View Full Version : [General] How far is this game gonna go?

I see all the questions and suggestions.
They are all so varied from simple to complex to gameplay as well as development.

But my question to the creators is: What kind of game is this gonna turn out to be? People should be able to read a post and then help you guide you into the direction you actually want to go, in stead of naming things you've long since ruled out.

I see suggestions like irrigation, persons, etc.
And the only thing I've seen that is really NOT going to happen is multi harvest/plow.

But if you're not going to do that, that implies animals can't die and crops can't wilt. otherwise you'd find your farm devastated at the end of your nice summer vacation in france. That would be not so great if you are a mature person, but finding all your cute horsies and sweet bunny rabbits dead would be horror for my little niece...

Right now this game has the look and feel of a nice, casual game without any goal but to make some money and send your friend and family some presents. will it stay this casual or is the intention there to make it more intricate?

How is interaction going to be? Could you send stuff to other players (maybe with or without taxes from the king).

You have made some very valid points! It would be nice to hear, what the final "goal" is. We are all adults and know that a timeline cannot always be adhered to. However, seeing or hearing what Michael's outline of the game would be a wonderful idea!

Thank you for your very timely post!

! good point!
Somewhere I think I remember seeing that the start of this game had something to do with college? I don't know if I'm remembering that right. I do know that the opportunity "we the people" have here to gab and jabber about all things myFarm is unusual. (?) Whether what we are all busy talking about at all hours is being taken into consideration or not - it seems that they are as every once in a while you'll see the developer post about a thread.

I was wondering if some day I'll see myFarm in a box on the shelf next to the Sims at Best Buy. I'd buy it. Already, this game is more thought out and developed than many I see on Shockwave and the like. LOL And you have to pay for those! Often I see posted the point that games that end up on the shelves have been developed for some 5 years or more while this is still beta.

I could see this eventually develop into the kind where you unlock items as you gain "experience points" or something. Upgrades to the house, fences, animals, etc becoming available kinda like they become available to gift as you go along now. There are plenty of games like that, where there is no real "conflict" or time limit or anything, just unlocking new stuff and keep playing until you run out of creativity. Kinda in the vein of Zoo Tycoon, where there is the sandbox mode with unlimited money and you just let your imagination run without bounds.

I do hope that something like that will come of it and it just won't die off when the developer runs out of time/money/graduates, or something like that. This is too good in my humble opinion.

I agree, I am Not "WHINING" but their are many that are millionaires...Then What??
Is this not a "Game" where are the Losses? I am not advocating taking the fun out of the game. But asking for some challenges. Not difficult ones. But each challenges there are was of fixing them. Like Horse. It just sits there. Soon we hear that chicken lay eggs and hint cows be milked. Since the horse does none of that....then what??
Feeding the animals??? I don't care to see animal "die"... But if not fed... the ability to see that animal stop producing milk/eggs.... Horse?? Well maybe training it... stop feeding horse it starts loosing it's training abilities. Maybe Friends can come to your page and ride trained horses and adds money to your page.
As on any farm things need "Maintained" Fences repair...same equipment

Many suggest "Friends" for farm.....May be friends can harvest crops for you for 25% of money.... they wouldn't be able to plant them just harvest them. Same with trees and
things. This would make Farm more fun and interactive. Ok Vacation?
Select Farm friend/s to watch farm. They plant and harvest... if they allow crop to die, 25 % of crops harvest value gets subtracted from their cash. While they still get 25% of cash from harvesting of all crops and trees.

I also do see this game having potential of hitting store shelves. :)

I just wonder how serious they are being about creating something that keeps our interests. At first I was having fun creating a huge farm, but now it is just a little mundane. I find myself logging in less and less. I would like to see some new implementations, or atleast know that they are being worked on...

Just a reminder folks that for the last few weeks there have been some serious Server problems. This has taken up Michael's time (and money) to make sure that there is something stable for us to play the game on in the first place.
Hopefully after the new hosting packing is set up in a couple of weeks he may get around to spending time working on the game itself.
In other words we all just need to sit back and be patient for a bit longer.

Well, It's not about a timeline. Things like this happen and I agree that a stable game where you can always login and play whenever you want is a must.

But remember that 'we the players' also invest a lot of time.
There are people that make an arwork out of their farm.

It's a matter of supply and demand.

But I myself have played too many games in Beta stage that have gone down a totally different path than the game started out on. In the end it just means you'll quit the game because you feel 'cheated'...

Some restrictions on the way us players are thinking might be beneficial to the developer himself...

You can always, just harvest all your crops & do not replant any, leave the game for a while and come back to it. Hopefully, at that time the game will have evolved a little more so you can enjoy it more.

That brings up a question in my mind...I saw another post that said inactive farms would be deleted. If we were to plow our fields and cut our trees down, would that mean we are inactive?

With no new things to tax our brains, it gets to be somewhat a chore to do our farming. I love the farming, but at this point I am just doing things and waiting for new game features...

So, could we just go inactive and harvest everything/cut everything/sell everything and wait for new game features? I'm certainly willing to wait and come back but potatoes and wheat are getting boring. If we could just have a guess as to when some new game features will come out it would be most helpful!

Happy Farming!!

There were people saying that they wished they woul delete the inactive farms, but there is no such policy at this time and probably wont be.

That is not available at this time. If you leave your farm, it will still be there if/when you return. I hope this answers your question.

While I am new to this game and do not have children yet... I could see this being one of the few games I would buy/permit my future children and my nephew to play. I hope the developer keeps on with this.

Judging by the developer's update, it sounds like he's not going to be doing any more updates. It's too bad, because it's a good concept. I wish he could find someone to take it over for him.

TheWrightPlace

He didn't say he would never do more, just on hold at the moment.

ThreeDimen

In my experience, statements like that usually mean they'll be no more updates.
