Hi...it's curious me again. How do you folks take a screenshot of your farms? I haven't figured that one out yet. Thanks!

Thank you , Thank you for starting this thread!
I saw a girl who took a screen shot of all three angles and then she posted it in a comment - like a moving pic. Anyone know how to do that?

Ani

Im sure there's an easier way, but here's what I do (never done it for MyFarm, though)

•Open a paint program or Word (I use Paint Shop Pro)
•Go to what you want to screenshot.
•hold ctrl+print screen.
•Go to the paint or word program and paste (ctrl+V)
•Crop to get the exact image you want.
•Save the image.
•Upload to photobucket or similar site.

I missed the one ya'll were talking about, Nicole, so I dont know :(

Or if you just want a quick little shot of just a portion of your farm, you could use the 'Snapshot' button that's right there on the interface. :O?

It saves the image to your myFarm tab on your Facebook profile page.:cute:

Vista users have a much easier way of doing this as well

In your Vista Start Menu type 'Snipping Tool' into the search bar and the click on the result. Using this tool you can take screenshots as well as being able to do basic editing of them. It is IMHO one of the stand out features of Vista as it makes taking screenshots so easy.

Take the screenshot of the area you are after, do your editing and then save. If the image isnt too large then you could upload it to some webspace (most ISP's give you some webspace) and then embed it into a post using

[IMG] http://link.to/myimage.jpg [/ IMG]

If its larger and you just want to share it to people here then you can use either the attach option to add it to a post or put it in your Users Photo Gallary.

If you want to share it to none forum members then use something like flickr, photobucket ect ect

in firefox i use 'clipmarks.' it lets you clip little snippets of pages and keep them, including pictures.

If its just for you thats great but I don't believe it allows sharing which is what I believe the question is after

O, you may want to also put your myfarm to fullscreen as well when taking snapshots. or ud end up seeing your screen / other details you not want others to see as well. For instance your taskbar, desktop background and so forth :)

I guess I'm dense...or it's my operating system (windows xp) but I can't figure out the ctrl+print screen. Time to get my son. Or see how far I've stretched your patience...

Thanks Ani, this exactly the info I needed, you Rock!! Whooooho! In my case when I did it before I uploaded it to FB Photo Album, then copied the url and placed it in a forum post. (If that helps anyone!)

Oh, and the one we were talking about is back. It was on a hosting site that was down temporarily.

Okay, well I feel really stupid (DOH!), but I've never known how to make a screen shot on any of my Macs... and the keyboard has no "printscreen". Any Mac Heads out there want to help me? ... I'd love to use the FULL Screen myFarm and take a shot I can put into Photoshop for a nice signature pic.

I've saved my screenshots to Picasa and Flickr, but when I use the "insert image" button here (adding the url of the image in the pop-up box), I don't get the image when I "preview post." In fact, the little picture icon I get after I "OK" the image insert pop-up looks like a piece of paper torn in half (broken link?).

Does this make sense?

Any advice? Help? I need to use my screenshots in another thread....

Lorna,

Seems odd as I insert images all the time here. But here's another option to consider.

Create an album here in the myFarm Forums (look under User CP) then use those links in other threads.

Can you directly post the link to one of the images that's doing that?

JayG, I don't understand the question quoted here....Would you mind rewording it, or "spelling it out" for me, please?

simply paste one of the http: addresses that wouldn't work as an image insert, in a reply to this message.

I want to see what it looks like, and how it behaves if I try to do the same thing.

Thanks!

Okay--here is a simple cut/paste of the url:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/87796226@N00/3170886556/

Next, I've uploaded the same "photo" to my UserCP photo album:

(picture URL) http://www.myfarmcommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=82&pictureid=398

(BB Code) http://www.myfarmcommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=82&pictureid=398

All above links inserted with simple cut/paste.

Lorna

Well, JayG, the BB Code entry worked!!!! You're my Hero-of-the-Day. :-)

So, how is the little picture "button" supposed to work? (on the compose message screen)

JayG

Okay--here is a simple cut/paste of the url:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/87796226@N00/3170886556/

The problem here is the wrong link that's your main flicker page the link you want looks like this:

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1089/3170886556_f84a67139e.jpg?v=0

And when I paste that via the Image Tool in the message compose I get:

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1089/3170886556_f84a67139e.jpg?v=0

Generally when I have a pic I want the link to, I right click the pic and chose the copy image location option, that gives me what I want to paste here.

Hope that all makes sense.

Which we can see works as well, so now you have all sorts of options :)

On any image on a web page, right click and your browser should offer options, in Firefox one of those is copy image link location. I then go back to my message click the Image Tool/Icon and paste the results.

Finally I use preview to make sure it all works before posting.

Sorry I'm not sure of a clearer way I can say it.

Just chiming in here, I use a screen capture program, there are some free ones out there, using a self contained capture program may give you more options.

I use FastStone Capture (http://www.faststone.org/)
When I got it it was free for home use. You might check it out. If it is not free for home use anymore, there are others. This one seems to be a good alternative, while I have not tried it, it appears similar to the faststone software, MWSnap (http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html)

I was reading this thread hoping to find out where pics are stores once taken. I have taken several over time and have yet to find them. I've read where it says they are suppose to be whic makes no sense to me. I wanted to post them on facebook hopefully to gain new friends for the game but it's hard to catch someones eye with no pics. I guess I'll have to go the photobucket route..what a royal pain just to get pics on my page...........

im no computer wizard so please keep that in mind with my advice. im just speaking from my own experience. but when you save a picture you generally get a choice as to where it is stored on your computer. you probably have a file in your start menu that says 'my pictures.' i would start there. you can go into 'my computer' and look. look in 'my documents.' you can also search, but without the file name that would prob be a loss. you are just going to have to poke around til you find them. how you have stored them/put them in will matter as well. if they were scans you may have a separate folder. uploads from a camera same. just pics you right clicked and saved same. pics from paint same deal. etc. if you have a photo app (you will prob have an icon on your desktop) such as kodak, hp, etc look in there as well.

what you can do from now on to make it much easier for yourself is create a folder on your desktop. put any new pictures you want to be able to find quickly in there. every time you save something you will get the option as to where you want to put it.

Blanche, one way that you can display myFarm on your FaceBook profile is to just add a myFarm box or tab, which can be done on the application settings page. I have a myFarm tab showing at the top of our FaceBook Wall and that is where any snapshot I take (using the "Snapshot" tab on my farm screen) while at my farm will be displayed.

Just go into "Application Settings" (hover over "Settings, found to the right of your name on the FaceBook menu bar...you'll then see a drop-down menu...click on "Application Settings"). Find myFarm in there and to the right of that, click on "Edit Settings". On the Profile tab, you'll be given a choice of adding a box or a tab (or both, if you like).

I agree with ani.The way that is explained is the simplest and good for the implement.I always follow that one as my taking screenshot, whenever I want.
