It's just for decoration for now as with the other new items that we were told about a couple of weeks ago. We have to wait a bit longer for the other items.

Yea! Love the diversity with the cows, goats and roosters.
So excited to have my well, but one comment is scale. It's larger than a full grown tree, almost a tall as a two story house. The scale issue was getting better, but this is a step back.

Many thanks for the new Wishing Well which is beautifully drawn. I do agree with Naste that the Well is quite large. It has a base diameter that is greater than the main room of a Rustic Shack and it is taller than a tree. As the size of Chickens was slightly reduced shortly after their introduction, would a down-sizing of the Well be in order?
p.s. Major kudos on all of the recent additions. The revised animals are beautiful, much better than the old, and the new animals are great!

What happened?
I really like all this new stuff but I am wondering what happened.
I have had this app for over a year and have watched it grow from one farm to 4, from just plowing and planting to new animals, houses, fences and other things. One thing remained constant. They said there would be NO multi plant and harvest. Moderators in this forum as well as the last one SCREAMED there would be no multi options. Some moderators went as far as threatening people with various things. That remained constant and now I see there is an upcoming reversal of a position that many held to so dearly. Just wondering if this is someone giving in to the pressure or what. I only say this because of the screaming that some of the moderators and others did at rejecting this idea.
Also why are the fences STILL not fixed, I can still place one and when I go to link them up they line up horrible and the fences are not at all measured out in such a way that they can evenly line up with the crops. Either you need to stop halfway inside a crop square or plow a new one. I know you have better things to work on but this is a problem that was supposed to be addressed a long time ago.

I also felt like hiring someone to fetch the water from the well but it's now looks fine on my farm. I ringed it with trees and now it's just right!
The new cows and goat are very nice, now I'll have to make more room again for all these new animals. Lovin It!

Hi MrLuke, pleased to meet you. Isn't it wonderful that the game owners reversed their decision and did so much work to give us the no. 1 requested feature? Multi-field plowing is such a pleasure. I applaud the versatility of King Michael who is willing to change for us and I applaud Sir Joey who worked out the program!
I wanted to share something I found about the fences. On my farm I placed all 6 fence types, and as I did, I discovered that many fence pieces (other than gates) come in two lengths. The longer length is equal to the length of a game square, the shorter length has versatility for patching and connecting offsets and oddities that one might create. Until I selected the longer fence pieces, my fence runs did not equal one piece per square, but when I carefully selected the longer versions of fence pieces from the Store, everything lined up. Take a look at my farm and see how I fenced around my Houses and Animals. That was all done with the one fence piece per square technique made available by selecting the longer, not the shorter, versions of a fence pieces.

Based on Simon's replies on other threads and past experience, we usually have to wait at least a month before Credit Only items become available for Farm Cash.

The reason that it was deemed something that would never happen were technical reasons. Reasons that Michael couldn't see a way around with the resources at hand. It is a feature that from an implementation pov is a difficult one to find a way around due to the way that a Flash Based Facebook Application works. I think this is shown pretty well by Farm Town, anyone who has watched their development and pays attention to our 'todo' list and the suggestions forum can see that they have taken fairly big leads from us, not least our suggestions forum. With Multi plow being one of the most requested elements that would have surely been one of the first things on their list but its missing from their game.
However things change all the time. For all Michaels skills he will be first to admit he isn't a natural or professional coder. His skills have him being alot more at home in the creative and management side of game development. Joey came in with new servers having been deployed and with a fresh mind and coding skills that allowed him to identify a possible solution and eventually get around the technical limitations which then made multi plow a possibility.
As for the reasons the mods got annoyed with Multi Plow questions, its simply the fact that it was made clear multiple times that it was a feature that was viable so couldn't be added yet people seemingly choose to ignore it and keep asking. It does get annoying when you post something and people just ignore it forcing you to repeat
Also why are the fences STILL not fixed, I can still place one and when I go to link them up they line up horrible and the fences are not at all measured out in such a way that they can evenly line up with the crops. The fences generally do work but they aren't as easy to get them to do what you want as everyone would like. The main issue is simply the way things like the layers work and would probably require a complete overhaul of the base code to sort. With a bit of persistence and getting the right piece of gate (which is vital) it can be done and once you get the hang of it can be fairly simple

Love the new stuff! It's been fun to check back each day and find a new thing (or 2, or 3) to play around with. I was curious too about the size of the well though. Is it likely to be scaled down? I am not complaining at all (!), but just wanted to know. I see from the comments above that I'm not the only one wondering about this. :wink1:
As usual, everything looks great! It's obvious there's a lot of time and effort going into all the new elements, and the redesign of the old too.
I also think the well is a bit big...A well two thirds that size would be a better fit. It is another nice feature though...just scale it down a bit.
I love the new animals and I think the goat problem would be fixed if they just slimmed down the head. Goats have skinny heads, not the brick like structure they currently sport.
Thanks

I'm a bit confused: Avaliable to by now are the Red Rooster, White Rooster, Black Rooster and Brown Rooster.
When the first two were released, I bought the Red and White Roosters. Once they grew up, my Red Rooster became Brown. I thought this was a repair because so many people complained about the fire-engine-red chicken.
Yet the Red Rooster is still avaliable to buy, and now whe have another brown.
My real question is, if I buy a Brown Rooster, will it look exactly the same as the Red Rooster? Is it just a glitch that caused my Red Rooster to turn Brown? If so, will I end up with one the propper colour if I were to purchase another Red Rooster?
Thankyou,
The red chicken turned brown. The red rooster is still red when it's an adult.

I have two Red Roosters (one on another farm)...they both look very brown to me...for example, I've just replace my Avatar picture, it now includes my Red and White Roosters. This should illustrate what I'm talking about, as I currently have no 'Brown' or Black Roosters on my farm.
(BTW: I'm running out of room on my avatar guys...where am I gonna put the new roosters? =P)
3:32pm EDIT:
So are my Red Roosters supposed to look brown, or is that a glitch? If it's not a glitch, why is there a new brown one as well?

The new water well is very nice but looks way off scale when placed near a house.
I hope it gets scaled down to about half to maybe 2/3 of it's present size. It throws off the entire look of the farm.
Also how about some nice pure white goats. I happen have and love white saanens.
Ohh and we need bulls. We can't make little calves without bulls LOL
Thank you for allowing me to comment.

I, too, am hoping for a scaled-down version of the well. I jumped on it as soon as I found out it was available. I thought it would be the size I saw in the Cash Shop. Imagine my surprise when I took it out of my gifts and saw that it was taller than the columns of the mansion's entrance.
Any word as to the consideration of the above feedback and if it will be scaled down?

Yes but that still doesn't answer my question.

This has been answered previously in the Roosters thread.
There is only about 4hrs time difference between your 2 posts. It was not on there when I went to bed (yes I need sleep) and when I was able to get on this am (I have real animals I must take care of before I can get on-line, and drink a cup of coffee! LOL) We also do more on the forum than only answer questions. When people post in wrong areas, make new threads, etc, we have this work to do. When the answer is already in the threads we may not make it an immediate priority, but we do get to it.
Everyone complained that the red rooster was too red, so the color was changed to a brown-red.
I perosonally loved the original "red" color of the red rooster.

Firstly, in relation to being annoyed at not having questions answered, I am not merely referring to my most recent question. I am also referring to questions I have asked in the past, when people have had ample time to eat, sleep, feed their pets, live their lives, and read the forums before answering, yet the question has still gone unanswered.
I understand your need to sleep, and the fact that you have a life. I also have pets, and am about to go to bed myself, as it is now night time here (it was 4:16PM when I last edited that post.)
My question as it is, is still unanswered. I just went through the "New animals - Pigs, Roosters" thread to see if the answer was there, and found nothing. So I'll ask one more time:
If the Red Rooster is now brown, why is there another Brown Rooster avaliable for sale?
Is it darker or lighter that the Red-Brown Rooster? Is it even worth buying?
Though if I do say so, if you look closely at the rooster in my avater, it's more of an orange-brown than red-brown, IMO, which is why I am confused as to why they added a new brown one.
I myself personally prefered the fire-engine Red Rooster, though I like the brown chicken better than the red one, but they can't please everyone now can they?
Thankyou once again,

The new rooster is a "brown" rooster. Everything is still being tweaked so the shades of the animals may change especially now that there is a "brown" rooster.
As I stated, the original red rooster was changed in color due to many people complaining it was too red.
You may not like the answer you are given but that is the answer. I see Joey had answered you only a few minutes after your original question on here.
If you do not like the color then you do not have to purchase it. The colors may still be tweaked, especially now that there is a new "brown" one. When they are adults the red rooster is more red than brown.
There are times that there is no one on the forums due to everyone in different time zones, our real lives, jobs, children to take care of, doctor appointments, being sick, having lunch with friends, fixing dinner for our families, cleaning house, and this is all in one day! So, if you do not get an answer in a few hours, I'm sorry but that's just the way it is. No one ignores "your" questions, I'm sorry if you feel that way.
Sorry!

First off, I never said I didn't like the current Red Rooster, I find he's quite cute, and like the fact that at least he has an eye (the white one hasn't got one...discovered that when zooming in on a screenshot). I just stated that I preferred the Bright Red one.
IMO, it is more brown than red, but it could be just my computer. The full grown one in my avatar is exactly the same colour as the one on my farm, as it is from a screenshot of my farm. But thats not important.
You may find this hard to believe, but I am human too. I know what can make up the day in the life of a human, so you needn't have bothered to tell me. Yet, like I said, I can come back after doing many of those human-type things you listed, and find that several other peoples questions have been answered, yet once again mine hasn't.
I'm sorry if it bothers you that I feel ignored, and I'm more sorry that it bothers you if I excercise me freedom of speech. Next time I'll try and keep my feelings silent, in order to ensure your not bothered. Thankyou, I'll make myself dissapear now, if that'll make you feel better.

Oobie, my red roosters are RED and have not changed since I got them the first day (after growing up). Yours in your avatar, does look brownish on my monitor. Don't know why... but mine are red. I *think* Mel was having a "senior moment" when stating that the color of the red roosters was toned down because of complaints. Those complaints, to my knowledge were all about red CHICKENS. And as we all know, those were changed. Here is a link to see my red rooster (saved as a PNG to keep the color as close to the original as possible). http://agerdes.com/rooster.png

Most of your 'unanswered' questions are unanswered because they really aren't questions. They are suggestions or statements which we can't be expected to respond to otherwise that would be all we do.
Also we don't always know the answer and while we usually try and find out sometimes we don't get an answer or if we do we lose the thread that the answers for

I may be wrong but I think Oobies confusion may be between the chickens and the roosters. There are no "old" roosters, they were just released. When the Rhode Island red chicken was first released, they were a bright red and were then toned down to their red-brown color. When the roosters were released this week, there was a red, white, black and brown one released. Hope this helps.

Um...now that the rooster issue appears to be cleared up, does anyone know about the well sizing? :m0261:
I actually don't think its as bad as some people are making out. In total its just under a storey tall. A storey is what between 8-10 feet? Now without the wooden frame the well is under half a storey tall and that includes the 'step up' so that makes it no more than 4 to 5 feet with the step up. Then it becomes a case of what kind of well is it, sure its way too big for a small garden well but we are on a farm so surely this supposed to be a more 'commercial' grade well rather than ornamental.
Its obviously not perfect in scale but then a balance needs found between it being scaled right and the details being visable

Wakey, thanks for the answer. It does look rather large in relation to my yellow farmhouse, so I will just move it to a location a bit farther away. (I flatly refuse to be a malcontent!) I was thinking, when I first saw it, that the details would be less visible should it be much smaller...
Thanks again! :m0283:
Oh, and yeah, I wasn't thinking about it being a commercial sort of thing -- duh. :tongue1:

Since comparative dimensions came into this, I would like to add a comment if I may. While the Well is yet another wonderful enhancement among many added to the game recently, let's see how the Well actually compares in size. The top of the Well is as tall as the bottom of the second floor window on each of the houses (except the Mansion). While the inside measurement to a ceiling is 8 to 10 feet, one should also add ceiling/floor thickness between floors, so a general estimate between stories is a 10 feet. Add to that the fact that the second floor windows would not not sit on the floor, but would be up a good two feet from it, the Well appears to be 12 feet tall.
When you estimated that the Well is just under a story tall, did you compare it to the Houses? In your (undersized) estimate that the Well is just under 8-10 feet you said that it would be no more than 4 to 5 feet with the step up, so according to your (undersized) estimate, that would make the step up just under 4 to 5 feet tall. Actually, the step up appears to be much shorter than that, but likewise, the top of the Well is well over a story tall.
Then there is the width. The base of the Well is as wide as the white House. This means that across the span equal to the diameter of the Well base, you could set up a living room couch, a coffee table, and a television cabinet, with space to walk around them, then place a hallway beside them and add dividing and exterior walls, all without expanding beyond an area equal to the width of the base of the Well. (l.o.l.). One could do that much across the the width of a House that is only 1 room wide!
All of the new things are wonderful, but when compared to the Houses and other objects that have been nicely done to scale, it is easy to see why so many comments quickly began pouring in about its abnormal size. I do wish to add big thanks for the beautiful new graphics on my favorite (and only) farm game, but if it is opined that the Well is other than disproportional in its enormity, I wish to point out the obvious to the contrary and agree with the feedback consensus on this. Thank you.

About the size of the well, I agree that if it is made smaller, some of the details may be lost. The animation might not work. However, think of the practicality of a well that big. That well is clearly a hand-drawn well (look at the cute bucket). Shouldn't it then be just a bit taller than a human being? Shouldn't the farm hands be able to get the to bucket and use the well? I think if it was was just 2/3 the size it would be perfect.

I covered my well over with a barn. It is VERY pretty but I thought it looked absurdly large. It's so big the barn hardly covered it. It is throwing off the entire scale of the farm. I'd rather loose some of the detail on one item than make the entire farm look off scale.
Thank you for allowing me to comment.

Sorry but you are wrong here. Use the yellow or white house which makes size comparison the easiest do to their ground floor roof. The top of the well structure comes to the bottom of the roof. That tells me that as I originally stated its a combined hight of between 8 and 10 feet.
That would mean that when a person stands on the 'risen' area the well side would be mid chest, thats about right for a well. Personally I think that its the risen area that causes so many problems it rises the well up and throws the perspective off which makes it seem larger both height and width.
Ofc as I have said before its not perfect but I have to say messing around with it in a paint package 50% smaller as some are calling for is way too small and I couldn't find a reduction really that significant made the image smaller without losing the detail.

I was excited to see the new items become available and bought credits through my paypal account in order to get thetractor and well as soon as possible. The tractor is a good size. I have moved the well around from one house to the next to find a place where it looked appropriate. Conclusion is: I'm very disappointed with it. actually hate it. I would like to return it. Is there a provision for that? I am going to be leery of anything else I might buy from now on. Previosuly I've not been the least bit disappointed, everything has been proportionate, but this big ol thing, uck. What is my option if I don't want to keep this monstosity? Can the developers and artists hear the people and downsize the well and exchange them with folks who have already purchased them? Thank you:

I'm sorry but no you cannot return the well. I'm sorry you hate it. You can do as some others have done and that is hide it behind another building or cover it with trees.
There is a glitch with the fence that I believe is still working, that allows you to remove items from your farm.

I'm happy. My well looks great in the yard with my gray stone house and matches the stone nicely thankyouverymuch!
It's my under construction "Hog Wild" farm - formerly known as the coconut farm. (Dunno which one will be showing under the icon.)

I love the well, and yes I think it's a bit big also. I placed it so it is not next to any buildings.

Hi Wakey, thanks for giving a detailed response on my rebuttal on estimated Well height and width dimensions. Having this open forum to allow us to express opinions is a nice feature, and having it staffed with people who coordinate and respond to our feedback makes the game all the more interesting.
I would like to address the issue of potential loss of detail when the Well is reduced from its current size. If you take a flat image copy of an object and put it in a paint package,e as you did, or even put it into Photoshop, then, yes, you will see a noticeable loss of detail when you reduce the image size. That’s because, in that case, you would be working with a flat bitmap copy of the image, not the original work file. A flat copy of the image does not carry the same properties, layers, and detail as the original, so what the designer will see is quite different from a paint program. This difference will be even more pronounced if you took a screen shot of the Well and reduced in a paint program, but even if that is not the case, the difference in resolution capabilities a flat copy and the original work file will be noteworthy. The original file will not be a bitmap file (such as a .jpg, .gif, or .png), it could be a .psd, a vector image, or another file with high level editing capabilities that allow reduction a and preserve detail, while a paint program only distort the detail. After all, look at the amazing detail the designers put in the new smaller horses.
Also, if reducing the Well to 50% as some have suggested is not the best solution, would trying it a 2/3 the size as others have suggested be worth a look? Or, perhaps going toward almost 50% would be a try. Only the image designer will know the answer to this, I know, I have designed a lot of images. If so many people are complaining about its size and hiding their newly purchased Wells behind buildings, if they have a building large enough to hide it, is this feedback being forwarded to the designers in order to let them make the call? The new designers have given us so many beautiful new things to make the game so much better that I don't think their feeling would be hurt by this challenge, and only they will have the tools and capabilities to seek the right balance between size and detail.
Thank you for hearing my complaints. If all organizations were as open and responsive to its members as myFarm is with this recently created forum, then many things would run a lot better!
p.s. The Well is not as big as the Kudos I have for the design team who has brought the beautiful new animals and all the neat new stuff. I absolutely love how the game has progressed in the last two months!!
p.p.s. I have purchased farm credits and I will do so in the future. I hope that others join me in this to help further future developments in the game, rather than asking how soon things will be made available for farm cash.

I don't see the well as being too big and I have it right beside my mansion.
Sorry, but I think it is pretty ugly as is and too big. Historic waldo worked out that every plot is about 26' sq so that makes the well somewhere in that vicinity too since it takes up almost a whole plot.
If they took some/all of the footing away it would look much better and better sized. Also does Everything have to have mud around it? I mean, I assume this farm has running water to the houses and barns so how much use will the waterwell really get to make it so muddy? There is mud around the gates, well, duckpond, in front of barns, around houses. Does this farm never have a dry spell?

I don't see mud, I see dirt! The dirt is needed for the bushes and flowers that will come.
It's all in the eye of the beholder!

I bought two wells and placed them away from the buildings. One is in a grove of coconut trees and the other is in a patch in the middle of my crops. They look fine there. I'd hate to lose the details by them being too small, so I made compromises.
I just decided that they would be large, community type wells.

Thank you for the beef cattle - I much prefer them over the dairy cows - although every farm must have some dairy cattle in order to have milk, butter, cheese...

LOVE the well, LOVE the TOWER!!! Love the size of each!!!
Water Towers should be TALL and seen all over the town (or farm)!!
Thanks for making it big and tall!!! Please KEEP it this way.
Was happily suprised to see the water DRIP into the bucket and splash! Nice effect!!!!
Love the wishing well size ... so pleasant. I have had several wells on farms and ranches.
They were pretty but working wells.
Thanks for the tractors...they're "smoking" (literally!!!!!) LOVE IT TOO!!!!
You guys are the GREATEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!

LOVE, love, love all that you folks have been producing. I'm hanging on to the water well hoping the scale will be "fixed" as you did with the other items (eg: the chickens). THANKS for making this such a fun pastime.:birds in love:

I, too, am waiting to see what happens with the well. I really like the Tower though....wish we could put our farm name (or something) on it...as you might see in small towns in the real world.

Great Idea! I think you should put it in the game suggestions......
I love the new toys....I just wish they didn't come already assembled. Its like getting lego with the toy already made. e.g. the duckpond. I would rather have all the bits and put it together myself.
Cheers

Thank you so much for all your hard work! All your time and effort is greatly appreciated. I'm glad to spend a few dollars via PayPal here and there to help keep things going.
I would like to add, though, that I agree that the well is entirely too big. Anyone actually looking at it once it's placed can clearly see it.
The scale is off - the bucket alone is taller than the windows on the yellow house. Put a myFarm-sized man on the porch of the yellow house, then put the well next to *him*. A well that's taller than a man? The well is half the height of a water tower. Even a commercial well isn't that tall. It's just way too big.
The argument that details would be lost isn't valid in my opinion. If the details on small things (corn and chickens come to mind) is so visible, why would it be so much harder to keep detail on a well if it's made smaller?
I bought three wells and haven't placed two of them. They'll sit there in my Gifts forever, unless there's a way to get rid of them. From now on I'll buy only one of something and decide whether or not to buy more after I see it placed.
Thank you for being open to our opinions!
Word just in...
The well has just been reduced in size (it's still not small!) but it has been reduced!

Seems like the perfect size to me. The detailing is still quite visable. Excellent.

It IS smaller! I thought I was hallucinating, haha. It looks great now, much more in proportion and no details seem to have been lost. Whoever is responsible for the alteration, "Thank you!"

You know, I THOUGHT it looked smaller, but I came here to make sure that it had been adjusted and it wasn't just that I had grown accustomed to its original size! I does look a lot better, I think -- I put it back in the place I had planned for it when it first came out, and the proportions are definitely more in line with the size of the yellow house. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I think it's perfect now! :farmer:
